Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of role playing learning method (role playing) against active students. This research was conducted in Palembang Paradigm MTs academic year 2016/2017. The method used is an experimental method with the device of quasi experimental design and type design Nonequivalent design. The sample used in this study is 47 students. The samples in this research is purposive sampling that are aims to select two classes of third grade. Sample selected is a class VIII C with 23 students as an experimental class (class using role playing) and VIII A with 24 students as control class (class using conventional teaching methods). Data collection techniques taken from questionnaires and observation sheets to view the activity of learning. The data analysis activity of learning through questionnaires obtained an average score for the experimental class that is equal to 62.7391, while the control group was 52.625. Results of average scores for the experimental class observation sheet that is equal to 61.5217, while the control class is 51. The data analysis of two groups t test, t values obtained are 5.55 greater than the value t table with degrees of freedom (df) = 45 and a significance level (α) = 0.05 is equal to 1.679 (5.55> 1.679), H0 is rejected and Ha accepted, which means the average activity of learning students are taught using the learning method of role playing is higher than average activeness of student learning using conventional teaching methods. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of the learning method of role playing an effect on students' learning activeness.
