Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model on the ability to the problem solving on learning mathematics students of class VII MTs Negeri Lawang Kidul, Muara Enim. The type of research used is True Experimental Design. The population of this study consists of 8 classes and selected 2 classes as a sample, namely class VII.B as experimental class and VII.G as a control class. Data collection techniques used in this study are the tests as a measure of critical problem solving skills, student observation sheets as supporting data for researchers, and the observation sheet of the implementation of Problem Based Learning model to see the implementation of Problem Based Learning model. Data analysis used is t test with significant level = 0,05, obtained tcritical = 3,56 and ttable = 1,67. The results of the analysis can show that there is influence of the implementation of Problem Based Learning model of learning ability to solve the problem of math class VII students in MTs Negeri Lawang Kidul, Muara Enim.
