Abstract

The title of this study is “TeachingVocabulary Using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) Strategy to the Third Grade Students of SD Negeri 183 Palembang”. There are two objectives of study, they are as follows: the first objective of study is tofind out whether or not there is means significant improvement on students’ vocabulary mastery average score taught using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) strategy to the third grade students of SD Negeri 183 Palembang and the second objectives of study is to find Whether or not means paired differences on students’ vocabulary mastery taught using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) strategy higher than those who are taught using conventional strategy to the third grade students of SD Negeri 183 Palembang. The population of the study was the Third Grade Students of SD Negeri 183 Palembang in the academic year of 2012/2013. The sample of the study was taken fromconvenience sampling. The writer was selected the class III B as the control group and III A as the experimental group. It consisted of 60 students, 30 students for control group and 30 students for experimental group. In this study, the writer used quasi experimental design. The instrument used in collecting the data was writtentest. The test was administered twice, as the pre-test and post-test for both control and experimental group. The results of the test were analyzed by using SPSS 19. The result showed that teaching vocabularyusing List-Group-Label had a significant improvement and difference on the students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be seen from the result of pretest to post-test of each group. The achievement of experimental group was higher than the achievement of control group. Based on the result analysis of means significant improvement from students’ pretest to posttest score in experimental group taught using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) strategy, it was found that t-obtain (0.000) was lower than t-table (0.05). So, the Ho (the null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (the alternative hypothesis) was accepted. It means that there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery taught using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) strategy, while the result analysis of mean paired differences from students’ pretest to posttest in control and experimental groups, it was found that t-obtain was higher than t-table. If t-obtain was higher than t-table, so the Ho (the null hypotheses) was rejected and the Ha(the alternative hypotheses) was accepted. It means that there was a significant difference onstudents’ vocabulary mastery taught using List-Group-Label (L-G-L) strategy than those who are taught using conventional strategy.
