Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of learning strategies PQ4R to understanding of the concept of students in class X. monera material IPA MAN 1 Palembang. The variable in this study is a learning strategy PQ4R as independent variables and the understanding of the concept as the dependent variable. The sample was class X. IPA as an experimental class 1 and class X IPA 3 as the control class. This study design experimental method using Quasi-Experiments. While data collection techniques used were written tests. Written test is used to look at the ability of abiding by the concept of the student after PQ4R learning strategies. Based on the analysis, the ability of understanding the concept shows that the implementation of learning by using learning strategies PQ4R better than the control class. It can be seen from the calculation of the regression test, the ability of understanding the concept = 0,000 it can be concluded that H0 rejected and Ha accepted. This is reinforced by the results of the gain test, the ability of understanding the concept of students in the experimental class of 0.80 (high), while the control class 0,57 (medium). It can be concluded that, learning strategies PQ4R affect the ability of students' understanding of the concept.
