Abstract
The ability to communicate and deliver a well-spoken speech is strongly recommended in this globalization era especially in education field. It allows individuals to give impressive and outstanding speech on various occasions. Focusing on Muhadhoroh program which is basically a speech program, this undergraduate thesis aimed to find out and explore the challenges faced by the students and instructors in Muhadhoroh program at SMP IT Raudhatul Ulum. The qualitative research design was employed here and the participants were selected as participants by using purposive sampling method. The data in this undergraduate study were obtained from interviews and supported documentations such as the Muhadhoroh program schedule, list of speakers, text of speeches and related notes. The results of this undergraduate thesis showed that there were five challenges faced by the students in Muhadhoroh program; mother- tongue use, low or uneven participation, inhibition, lack of motivation and uninteresting topics. Meanwhile, there were two challenges faced by the instructors in Muhadhoroh program at SMP IT Raudhatul Ulum; lack of teaching materials and lack of students’ confidence. Thus, the results of this undergraduate thesis are believed to be worth, helpful and provide beneficial contributions for the instructors or teachers and students.
