Abstract

The study aims to understand the meaning of life on those of middle-aged disability who worked as beggars. The study is a qualitative research with a phenomenon approach, performed to understand the social situations associated with a subjective human experience and the meaning of an event. The subject of this research is a sampling of two. Data collection methods are conducted with interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that both subjects could feel happiness in the life they led, a person with disability working as a beggar. The process that the subject goes through in finding a meaningful life begins when getting a physical change of becoming a person of disability. The feeling of sadness and despair that is a feeling of meaninglessness can be changed into a meaningful living feeling through self-understanding. Selfunderstanding is strengthened by the existence of hope, a sense of responsibility, spirituality, and being able to take a stand by accepting all forms of suffering.
