Abstract

The aims of this study was to find out kinds and functions of teacher’s praises in EFL classroom at SMP Pembina Palembang. The participants of this study was an English teacher taken by using criterion sampling. The qualitative method, spesifically case study research design was used in this study. The data obtained from observation and interview were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The results of this research showed that there were two types of teacher’s praises and three functions of praises. The types found (a) general praise; (b) Behavior specific praise.
