Abstract
This study was intended to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of WhatsApp in writing activities at MA Babussalam Payaraman, Ogan Ilir. This study used a qualitative research with a case study to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of WhatsApp in writing activities. This study was conducted at MA Babussalam Payaraman, Ogan Ilir with six of the students as the participant by using purposeful sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher used interview through open ended questions. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis technique. The results of this study showed that there were some benefits and limitations of WhatsApp in writing activities. The benefits found were a) WhatsApp supported the students in learning activities, and b)WhatsApp was user-friendly and easy to use. Meanwhile, the limitation found was a) Spam messages problem.
