Abstract
The aim of this study was to find out the teacher and the students talk that occur in classroom interaction at SMA PGRI Sialingan, Muara Enim. The qualitative research method with a case study approach was applied in this study. The participants in this study were an English teacher and one class of eleventh grade students. Observation and interview as analysis were conducted to gain in-depth information, while thematic analysis was used to analyze and describe the collected data. Triangulation was used to assess the trustworthiness of the research results. The results indicated that the teacher talk that occur in classroom interaction at SMA PGRI Sialingan, Muara Enim consisted of four type of teacher talk, namely; (1) accept or uses ideas of student, (2) ask question, (3) lecture, and (4) giving direction and the type of student talk that occurs in classroom interaction more often as students respond than students initiate.
