Abstract

WhatsApp voice note is one of the features found in a messaging application in which messages are made in the form of voice recording. The purpose of this study was to find out students perceptions on the use of WhatsApp voice note in speaking activities. Participants in this study were 6 students at SMPN YPS Prabumulih taken by using purposeful sampling. This study used case study design. Interviews were used to collect the research data. Data obtained from interviews were analyzed by using thematic analysis. This study revealed some students’ perceptions on the use of WhatsApp voice note in speaking activities, as follows: (1) interesting learning activity, (2) positive activity, (3) easy to be use, (4) internet connection, and (5) phone storage full.
