Abstract

The mangroves in general can be characterized as the type of forest that fills the streams of streams (especially on the shores of parks, lagoons and estuaries). Sungsang harbor lies at the mouth of the musi river facing bangka or South China Sea. This study aims to study the abundance of mangrove plants and their environmental physic-chemical factors at Sungsang Harbor. The study used a line of transitions which was divided according to three stations a size of a hundred meters each sub-station. Next up is the analysis of environmental conditions within the physic and chemical parameters of every station. The mangrove plants found in Sungsang Banyuasin Harbor are the 3 varieties Avicennia marina, Sonneratia caseolaris and Nypa fruticans. Data collection of environmental conditions from physic and chemical parameters at each station. The most common type of mangrove is Sonneratia caseolaris because it is a mangrove species tolerant of very low salinity conditions. The abundance of mangrove plants in Sungsang Harbor amounted to 3 species at each station in the research location, first on the species Sonneratia caseolaris with values of density ranging from 200-400 ind/ha, second on Avicennia marina species with density values ranging from 0-333.3 ind/ha, third on Nypa fruticans with species density values ranging from 0-66.7 ind/ha Parameters of environmental physicchemical factors at three research stations in the Sungsang Harbor area, namely low dissolved oxygen with the highest average value of 5.9 mg/l, water salinity 0 to 0.4 ppt with a water pH of 6 to 6.73 and has a water pH of 6 to 6.73. very low current velocity with a value of 0.1 to 0.8 with a water brightness of 5.3 to 6.2 cm followed by a water temperature ranging from 29-32oC.
