Abstract

Rice is very susceptible to rice beetle (Sitophilus oryzae) which are stored for too long at home or in warehouses. The use of chemical pesticides for killing pests such as rice beetles has a negative impact, so environmentally friendly controls are needed such as the use of leaves and flowers of telang (Clitoria ternatea) as vegetable insecticides. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of powder leaf and flower telang (Clitoria ternatea) on the mortality of the rice beetle (Sitophilus oryzae) and to see the optimum quantity of mortality of the rice beetle (Sitophilus oryzae). The quantities tested were 2 gr, 4 gr, 6 gr, 8 gr, and control with an observation period of 7 days after application using 50 g of rice with 10 rice beetles weighing 0,0018 gr to 0,0020 gr in each treatment. Each treatment quantity was repeated 5 times. Analysis test results One Way ANOVA level 5% showed that there was a difference between each quantity in the treatment. This shows that the number of different doses in the treatment of the quantity of leaves and flowers of telang (Clitoria ternatea) has a different effect on the mortality of the rice beetle (Sitophilus oryzae).
