Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic and accompanied by current technological developments make online learning an alternative for teachers and students to continue to carry out learning and teaching activities remotely. One of the learning applications that is often used is Line Application, it facilitates students and teachers to connect each other inside and outside the classroom especially in teaching and learning process. This research was conducted to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of Line Application for writing activities at SMA Patra Mandiri 1 Palembang. This study employed qualitative method. The participants of this study were the 11th grade of social studies from SMA Patra Mandiri 1 Palembang which consisted of six students by employing maximal variation sampling. The data were collected by using interviews to know their perception on the Line Application in writing activities. The interview sessions were recorded and transcribed. The result of this study showed that the students felt that Line Application was convenient to use, the students felt that there was no improvement in writing ability the students felt that there was lack of teacher’s attention and the students felt that writing activity through Line Application was flexible.
