Abstract

ANALYSIS OF IRON (Fe) LEVELS IN SNAKEHEAD FISH (Channa striata) RESULTS IN RUPIT RIVER WATERS, MUSI RAWAS UTARA ABSTRACT Heavy metal iron (Fe) is defined as an essential heavy metal, if in a certain amount is needed in the body of living organisms, but in excessive amounts, will be toxic to the organism's body. This study aimed to analyze the heavy metal content of Fe in the meat and gills of Snakehead Fish (Channa striata) from the waters of the Rupit River, Kabupaten Musi Rawa Utara. This research was conducted in March-April with descriptive research method. The heavy metal Fe in the samples in the meat and gills of Snakehead Fish (Channa striata) was analyzed at the Chemical Engineering Laboratory of the Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya using the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) method. The results of this study indicate that the heavy metal content of Fe in the waters of the Rupit River, Musi Rawa Utara, is positively polluted because it has exceeded the permitted quality standards based on the 2003 WHO decision, which is 0,3 mg/kg. Fe content in snakehead fish meat (Channa striata) with the highest level in sample B5 was 1,299 mg/kg. while in the gills of snakehead fish (Channa striata) the highest levels in sample A10 were 1.535 mg/kg. This shows that the water of the Rupit river is contaminated with heavy metal Fe and the fish that live in the river have accumulated this heavy metal. Keywords: Accumulation, SSA, Iron, Fish, Pollution, River ANALISIS KADAR BESI (Fe) PADA IKAN GABUS (Channa striata) HASIL PERAIRAN SUNGAI RUPIT KABUPATEN MUSI RAWAS UTARA ABSTRAK Logam berat besi (Fe) didefinisikan sebagai logam berat esensial, apabila dalam jumlah tertentu diperlukan didalam tubuh organisme hidup, tetapi dalam jumlah berlebihan, akan menjadi racun bagi tubuh organisme tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan logam berat Fe pada daging serta ingsang Ikan Gabus (Channa striata) berasal dari perairan sungai Rupit Kabupaten Musi Rawas Utara. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan Maret-April dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Logam berat Fe dalam sampel pada daging serta ingsang Ikan Gabus (Channa striata) dianalisis di Laboratorium Teknik Kimia Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya dengan menggunakan metode SSA (Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kandungan logam berat Fe di perairan sungai Rupit Kabupaten Musi Rawas Utara menunjukkan positif tercemar karena telah melebihi standar baku mutu yang diizinkan berdasarkan keputusan WHO tahun 2003 yaitu sebesar 0,3 mg/kg. Kadar Fe pada daging ikan gabus (Channa striata) dengan kadar tertinggi pada sampel B5 sebesar 1,299 mg/kg. sedangkan pada ingsang ikan gabus (Channa striata) kadar tertinggi pada sampel A10 sebesar 1,535 mg/kg. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa air sungai Rupit terkontaminasi logam berat Fe dan ikan yang hidup di sungai tersebut telah mengakumulasikan oleh logam berat tersebut.
