Abstract

ABSTRACT Heavy metal copper (Cu) can enter the environment both in water and soil through industrial activities, mining, and household activities. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of heavy metal levels of copper (Cu) in the soil around the gold ore mill and the Rupit River flowing in Karang Jaya District. This study used the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) method to determine the levels of heavy metal copper (Cu) in soil and water. Based on the results, it was found that the water samples from a total of 9 samples all exceeded the standard limit for river water quality determined by PPRI No. 82 of 2001 which was 0.02 mg/L where the concentration of copper heavy metal (Cu) was 0.204 mg/L while in the fifth the soil sample exceeded the threshold value determined by SEPA (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency) which was 15 mg/kg where the concentration of heavy metal copper (Cu) in the soil was 34.99 mg/kg. With this, the water of the Rupit River and the soil around the gold mill have been contaminated with heavy metals (Copper). Keyword : Copper, River Water, Soil ABSTRAK Logam berat tembaga (Cu) dapat masuk kedalam stara lingkungan baik itu pada perairan dan tanah melalui kegiatan perindustrian, penambangan, dan aktivitas rumah tangga. Maka dari itu tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui konsentrasi kadar logam berat tembaga (Cu) pada tanah sekitar tempat penggilingan biji emas dan air sungai rupit yang mengalir di Kecamatan Karang Jaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA) untuk mengetahui kadar logam berat tembaga (Cu) pada tanah dan air. Berdasarkan hasil didapatkan bahwa pada sampel air dari total 9 sampel semuanya melebihi batas baku mutu air sungai yang ditentukan PPRI No.82 Tahun 2001 yakni 0,02 mg/L dimana hasil konsentrasi logam berat tembaga (Cu) yakni 0,204 mg/L sedangkan pada kelima sampel tanah melewati nilai ambang batas yang ditentukan oleh SEPA (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency) yakni 15 mg/kg dimana konsentrasi logam berat tembaga (Cu) tanah yakni dengan rata-rata 34,99 mg/kg. Dengan hal tersebut air sungai rupit dan tanah di sekitar tempat penggilingan emas telah tercemar logam berat (Tembaga). Kata Kunci : Tembaga, Air Sungai, Tanah
