Abstract

ABSTRACT Mercury (Hg) is a heavy metal that has the potential to cause pollution to the environment, all forms of mercury are toxic, if it enters the human body and aquatic biota (fish). Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is a freshwater commodity that has economic value and can survive longer. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the levels of mercury (Hg) in the meat and gills of snakehead fish (Channa striata) from the waters of the Rupit River. This study used the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Mercury Vapor Unit (SSA-MVU). Based on the analysis results on samples of snakehead fish meat (Channa striata) from sample codes B1 to B5 and also on gill samples of snakehead fish (Channa striata) from sample codes A1 to A5 there are mercury levels in the meat and fish gills, the results are less than 0, 0165 mg/Kg, in a positive sense the presence of mercury (Hg) in snakehead fish from the waters of the Rupit River. ABSTRAK Merkuri (Hg) merupakan logam berat yang potensial menimbulkan pencemaran pada lingkungan,semua bentuk merkuri beracun, jika masuk ke dalam tubuh manusia dan biota perairan (ikan). Ikan gabus (Channa striata) merupakan salah satu komoditi air tawar yang bernilai ekonomis dan dapat bertahan hidup lebih lama. Maka dari itu tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kadar merkuri (Hg) pada daging dan insang ikan gabus (Channa striata) hasil perairan di sungai rupit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom Mercury Vapour Unit (SSA-MVU). Berdasarkan hasil analisis pada sampel daging ikan gabus (Channa striata) dari kode sampel B1 sampai B5 dan juga pada sampel insang ikan gabus (Channa striata) dari kode sampel A1 sampai A5 terdapat kadar merkuri pada daging dan insang ikan tersebut didapatkan hasil kurang dari 0,0165 mg/Kg, dalam artian positif adanya kandungan merkuri (Hg) pada ikan gabus hasil perairan di sungai rupit.
