Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aimed at finding out the English teachers’ challenges in designing a lesson plan for teaching the students of Hotel Accommodation at SMK N 6 Palembang. The design of this study was qualitative research in the form of a case study. This study was conducted at SMK N 6 Palembang with an English teacher of Hotel Accommodation. The researcher utilized one-on-one interviews through open-ended questions to collect data about the English teachers’ challenges in designing a lesson plan for teaching the students of Hotel Accommodation at SMK N 6 Palembang by following the aspects prepared in the interview guideline. Then, this study utilized a coding system to cultivate the data collected from the interview. The result of this study shows that the English teachers’ challenges in designing a lesson plan for teaching the students of Hotel Accommodation at SMK N 6 Palembang consisted of some points namely (1) deciding time allotment, (2) formulating learning competencies, (3) selecting teaching methods, and (4) determining assessment based on competences.
