Abstract
This study aimed to find out students’ perceptions on the use of Quipper School in reading activities at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang. This study used qualitative research with case study design. The participant of this study were six students of SMK Muhammdiyah 3 Palembang by using maximal variation sampling semi structured interview. The data were collected through interview. The data were analyzed and presented descriptively. The results of this study showed that there were some perceptions on the use of Quipper School in learning reading. The study found some advantages on the use of Quipper School in reading activities, they are: 1) Students could directly informed about their errors and their scores as well, 2) Students were assisted with the features provided by Quipper, such as a summary of the materials, and exercises, 3) Quipper was flexible and could be accessed everywhere, 4) Quipper could improve students’ motivation. This study found some limitations of Quipper School in reading activities, they are: 1) There was no further explanation after completing the tasks, 2) Both material and tasks used full English, 3) Quipper was only assisted in finishing their tasks, not in learning English, 4) The Quipper School Videos could not be accessed offline. As the result of this study, the implementation of Quipper School in reading activities seen as something good and helpful. The students find out the advantages and limitations in using Quipper School as learning media. Keywords: Reading activities; student’s perceptions; Quipper School.
