Abstract

This study aims to describe the teacher's coping strategies in dealing with the inactivity of students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang in class IX during online learning during the pandemic and the factors that influence these coping strategies. This study uses descriptive qualitative research using data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject selection technique used purposive sampling. The subjects in this study were three grade IX teachers who had more than one year of online teaching experience. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the three subjects used a problem focused coping strategy (problem focus coping), namely trying to solve concrete problems and obtaining information support from someone who is a professional in their field. The coping strategies of the three subjects are also influenced by several factors, namely getting emotional support from friends and family, getting material support in the form of quotas, wifi facilities, attendance books, and textbooks, and also influenced by personality because the three subjects are always trying and not easily give up in the face of problems.
