Abstract

The aims of this study was intended to find out teacher’s perception on the use of Edmodo in teaching speaking in online English class at SMA Xaverius 1 Palembang. This study used qualitative involv 1 teacher as the participant taken by using total sampling with a case study design by thematic anaylzed. In collecting data instrument the researcher used interview through open ended questions, the data were analysis by using thematic analyzed technique. The finding showed that 6 perceptions covering the advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of the use of Edmodo in teaching speaking online English class are: a) improving the quality of teaching speaking, b) promoting variety of teaching culture, c) expanding learning opportunities for students and the disadvantages on the use of Edmodo in teaching speaking in online English class are: d) limited facilities learning, e) less face-to-face interaction, and f) learning distraction on the internet.
