Abstract

The best effort by Indonesian government in minimizing the rate of transmission and spread of Covid-19 at school environment is to implement a distance learning policy while this is followed up by the Ministry of Education by making an emergency policy through circular letter number 4 of 2020 regarding the implementation of education policies in an emergency period the spread of Covid�19. This study aims to explore respond, analyze the implementation of learning and implicate the response of science teachers to distance learning policies during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP/MTs in Palembang City. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative, the data source are observation, interview and questionnaires filled out by informants who meet the criteria of eight science teachers. The technique of analyzing the data is applying the percentage formula assisted by the Microsoft Office Excel program and then interpreting it in qualitative sentences. The results showed that the highest average percentage gain in each indicator was included in the "Very High" category, so it can be said that most of the teacher informants carried out activities from this statement. This means that science teachers mostly use learning methods by giving assignments in the form of questions to students, adjusting the curriculum by simplifying learning activities, implementing practicums for students doing practicum at home with easily available tools and materials. The teacher provides information on learning resources about the Covid-19 pandemic and uses social media (WhatsApp group/ Telegram/ Messenger) as means of communication during the Covid-19 pandemic. The impilcations obtained from the teacher’s responses were that the impimentation was carried out quite well by being able to take advantage of social media and technology that can be accessed online and offline.
