Abstract
Missionary activites are carried out by using variety of methods in order to invite people to the right path. Methods of Islamic propagation contained in the Surah an-Nahl verse 125 include of mau'idzah hasanah, wisdom, dan mujadalah, by understanding the object (mad'u) faced by each preacher. One of the methods discussed in this paper is da'wah bil-lisan (oral propagation) include the meaning of knowledge, advice, sunnah and understanding. Sa'id Hawwa, a prominent Syrian Islamic movement, believes that by using this method, the Islamic preachers should understand the target of the preaching (mad'u) well to gain the success in the mission, the language used should be easy to understand, as well as the preaching that should to be in harmony with their circumstances.
