Abstract
ABSTRACT This research aims to examine the interpretation of Ibnu Katsir and Hamka regarding the meaning of witness justice in Qs. an-Nisa' verse 135. This is because the term fair has various meanings. In addition, the verses of the Koran which talk about justice use several editors, including al-'Adl, al-Qisth and al-Mizan. This research is qualitative in form with a focus on two books of commentary, namely the book of Al-Quran al-'Azhim by Ibn Katsir and al-Azhar by Hamka as primary sources. In addition, references to commentary books, books, other articles, will be secondary references. The interpretation of these two figures will be examined using the muqarin method. The results of the study found that witness justice in Qs. an-Nisa' verse 135 refers to a meaning closer to piety according to Ibnu Katsir, while according to Buya Hamka witness justice is the culmination of all courage, so piety and courage are related, because people who always protect themselves from things that are not good and do things that are commanded by Allah SWT. and His Apostle for being brave in all things, one of which is eradicating evil.
