Abstract

HOTS is a learning evaluation activity that trains students' higher-order thinking skills. Based on the results of the observations, it showed that students have not been able to work on the problem questions at the HOTS level. This was caused by several things. (1) there is an absence of a HOTS preparation guide for teachers, and (2) teachers' awareness of the HOTS problem is still very low. Based on the urgency, the purpose of this research was to produce a multiple-choice test instrument based on the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) that is feasible to develop at SMA NU Palembang. The stages in this study used the ADDIE research and development model, which consisted of five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The sample in this study came from two classes, X Science, covering X Science 1 and X Science 2, with a sampling technique based on purposive sampling, so that the total number of samples was 26 students. The instrument used in this study was a HOTS-based multiple choice test, which refers to the Revised Bloom's taxonomy starting from C4-C6. Based on the results of the validity analysis, 24 questions were valid and 6 questions were invalid. The reliability of the test instrument is 0.91, which indicates a very high level of reliability. The difficulty level obtained is that 3 items have a "difficult" difficulty level, and 27 items have a "moderate" difficulty level. Discriminating power obtained: 15 items having "very good" discriminating power, 10 items having "good" discriminating power, 1 item having "enough" discriminating power, and 4 items having "not good" discriminating power. The distractor function obtained showed that 8 items had a "very good" distractor function, 14 items had a "good" distractor function, and 4 items had a distractor function.
