Abstract
ABSTRACT This thesis is entitled Critical Discourse Analysis of the Interpretation of Space in Tafsir Rahmat by Oemar Bakry. This research uses the word "samawat" by Oemar Bakry in his work, namely Tafsir Rahmat which is always translated with space to describe the natural order of the universe created by Allah in a very perfect and full of wisdom. The choice of the word space is also to show the existence of a discourse built by him related to the development of science, technology, and astronomy. This type of research is qualitative using library data (library research) related to the topic of discussion. By using Maudhu'i (Thematic) interpretation, a technique that places the text of the Al-Quran as an object of study (considered ma fi an-nas). The author takes the verses of the Qur'an about the process of creating the earth and the sky, one of which is in the letter Taha verse 4 mentions placing the sky above the earth, the author concludes that Allah's possession over everything in the sky is still greater and unknown to humans than on earth. In the verses of the AlQur'an about the process of the creation of the earth and the sky, there are four key words that directly indicate the process of the creation of the earth and the sky, namely “Khalaqa (خلق(, Badi' (بديع(, Fathir (فاطر (and the word Ja' ala (جعل(. Oemar Bakry translated space according to the development of modern science about the universe. The choice of the word space is also to show the existence of a discourse built by him relating to the development of science, technology and science. This form of interpretation indicates that the content of the interpretation of grace transcends the methodological boundaries which were the focus of attention of previous researchers.
