Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to look futher at how Islam views the kekampi tradition. This stems from the opinion of the community that women are required to give dowries to men who follow the kekampi tradition and after marriage the men must join and live in the wife’s house. This study uses qualitative methods by making 7 informants as research sources. This research is a field research. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis used the description-analysis method. The research results show that from an Islamic perspective, the kekampi tradition does not conflict with Islamic law as long as it does not harm or burden men or women. This is due to the fact that previously, the implementation of kekampi had to be carried out through a process of negotiation and agreement between the men's and women's families. At least, this kekampi tradition can be carried out because it does not conflict with Islamic law, does not cause damage or loss to people, and is beneficial for society.
