Abstract
The widespread use of slang among the younger generation such as teenagers, which can be sourced from various environmental conditions as well as additional media such as mobile phones, television, radio, youth magazines, and internet networks that make it easy to communicate through social media networks that are increasingly rampant in this day and age. This resulted in the easy distribution of new, unique vocabularies or a pun on Indonesian vocabulary in accordance with the General Indonesian Spelling Guidelines (PUEBI). The important element is that in using slang we need to be able to pay attention to it, because the use of slang must be in accordance with the place, situation, condition, and who we are talking to. For this reason, it is necessary to get into the habit of placing oneself, and always complying with the language norms that apply in Indonesia, and not forgetting to use Indonesian which is our national language. The purpose of this study is to find out what are the impacts of applying slang in everyday life to the existing Indonesian language, whether it is positive or otherwise. The research method used is qualitative with interviews related to the impact of slang with several sources, especially young people. The results say that if it is not considered properly and processed, then slang can have a bad effect on our Indonesian because most children find it difficult to get used to good Indonesian. But if it is considered and adjusted to the situation and conditions, this influence can be overcome.
