Abstract

Using the right learning media in teaching and learning activities can increase students' interest in learning, especially in biotechnology material. Biotechnology is a disciplinary science and focuses on complex basic concepts. Infographics can be an alternative because they simplify the material and can be presented in the form of visual media. The application of conventional biotechnology in the health sector is in the form of making anti-hair lice shampoo from bitter melon leaf extract. This study aims to produce infographic media on biotechnology material for class XII SMA / MA which is valid and to determine the characteristics of anti-hair lice shampoo (Pediculus humanus capitis) from bitter melon leaf extract (Momordica charantia L.). The population of this study was all bitter melon leaves found in the farmer's garden of Kedung Rejo Village, East Buay Madang Sub-district, East Oku Regency, the sample of this study was fresh old bitter melon leaves. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative with experimental method using shampoo sedian characteristic test. The data analysis used is Likert scale with data analysis techniques using quantitative and qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that the validation of infographic learning media gets an overall score with a total of 92.83% which is classified into a very valid category. With each media validation (93.75%), material expert validation (91.11%), and linguist validation (92.73%). Based on the results of validation by validators, infographic media is declared feasible for use in teaching and learning activities. While the results of shampoo making obtained that shampoo F0, F1, F2, and F3 have a good level of homogeneity, pH in the range of 7.61-7.87 which is good for human scalp, viscosity obtained 909.29 cp-2022.22 cp, with a foam height of 12.66-17.66 and have organoleptic results typical of bitter melon aroma with blackish green color and thick texture. Shampoo with 7% concentration has a good level of characteristics because it has a viscosity level that is in accordance with SNI 06-2692-1992 standards, not too thick.
