Abstract
The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not there is a significant improvement before and after the treatment on the eighth grade students’ narrative reading comprehension of SMP PTI Pakjo Palembang. There were 60 students taken as a population of the study was the eighth grade students of SMP PTI Pakjo Palembang. In this study, the writer used Quasi Experimental Design using pretest-posttest nonequivalent groups design. There were 60 students taken as sample. Each class consisted of 30 students VIII.1 as experimental groups and class VIII.3 as control groups, as a pretest and posttest. This study was conducted for about almost two months. There were twelve meetings which spent 90 minutes (2x35minutes) in reading comprehension test. The test was administrated twice, as the pretest and postest for both control and experimental group. The result of the test were analyzed by independent sample t-test. From the result, sample t-test it was found that there was a significant difference from students’ postest experimental and control group, since the p-output was lower than 0.05 and t-value was higher than t-table (1.66). It means that teaching narrative reading by using comic strip had a significant improvement on the reading comprehension achievement. Key words : Teaching Narrative Reading, , Comic Strip Strategy.
