Abstract
Cultural phenomena are events or occurrences that take place in a cultural context, such as traditions, habits, norms, values, and cultural expressions that are unique to a particular society or cultural group. One phenomenon that occurs among teenagers is the Wibu phenomenon. Wibu is a term for someone who is passionate about Japanese culture. This research discusses the phenomenon of wibu culture as a form of communication of generation Z adolescents in the Palembang Naruto Fans Cosplay Community. The purpose of this research is to know the form of cultural communication in the phenomenon of Wibu culture among generation Z teenagers and the influence of Wibu culture for generation Z teenagers in the form of communication. The theory used in this research is cultural norms communication theory proposed by Melvin deFleur, using a descriptive qualitative research approach that describes the object of research according to reality. This research uses data collection techniques by conducting observations, interviews and analyses which are then included in descriptive data analysis techniques that provide an overview of the data obtained (data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing). The results of the research that the author found show that there are two kinds of communication forms of generation Z teenagers in the wibu phenomenon, namely direct communication (face-to-face) and indirect communication (using intermediary communication tools and social media) and the influence of the wibu phenomenon in the communication of generation Z teenagers is the use of Japanese in the language of communication, wearing traditional Japanese clothes, using stage names with Japanese elements, imitating movements or sentences from their favourite characters, and so on. Keywords: Wibu Culture, Communication, Generation Z, Teenagers
