Abstract
This thesis discusses the effect of applying group work methods on student learning outcomes in social studies subjects. This research aims to. 1) Knowing the learning outcomes of students who use group work methods on social studies subjects in grade V in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ma'had Islamy Palembang. 2) Determine whether there is an influence from the application of group work methods on student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class V of Ibtidaiyah Madrasah Ma'had Islamy Palembang. This study uses a type of quantitative research using an experimental approach. In this study the research was true experimental desings with the form of posttest only control desings. The population in this study were 60 students of class V consisting of 24 men and 36 women. To obtain the author's data using data, namely: observation, to find out the activities of students studying social studies, interviews to find out the teaching and learning process in MI Ma'had Islamy, test methods to find out social studies learning outcomes of students, who use group work methods that do not use work methods group, documentation to find out data about the state of the teacher, students and school infrastructure. The results of this study: the first IPS learning outcomes of the experimental class using group work methods can improve student learning outcomes which are classified as moderate with the frequency of learning outcomes by getting a mean of 74.6 with a high value category of 22 students (73%), moderate grades 4 students (13%), and low grades there are 4 students (13%). Second for the control class The learning outcomes of students applying the lecture method get a mean of 64.6 with a high value category of 4 students (13%), a moderate score of 13 students (43%), and a low score of 13 students (43 %). Third The use of group work learning methods can improve student learning outcomes in social studies subjects, this can be seen from the results of hypothesis testing using the t test, namely: calculation of calculations (to = 6.0) and the amount of "t" listed in Table Value t Level significance α = 0.05 db = n1 + n2 -2 or = 30 + 30-2 = 58, then the value of t ttable = 2.004 (interpolation) is obtained. it can be seen that it turns out: -2.004 <6.0> 2,004, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
