Abstract
The objectives of this study were to find out wheter or not there was a significant defference before and after the treatment on the eighth grade students’ descriptive writing scores at SMP Adabiyah Palembang by using Idea details Pragraph (IDP) Strategy and to find out whether or not there was significant difference on the eighth grade students’ descriptive writing in poor, average, good and excellent categories at SMP Adabiyah Palembang between students who were taught by using Idea Details Paragraph (IDP) strategy and those who are not. In this study, I used Quasi Experimental Design using pretest-posttest nonequivalent group desaign. There were 64 students taken as sample. Each class consisted of 32 students from class VIII.3 as control group and class VIII.4 as experimental group. In collecting the data, writing test was used. The test was given twice to experiental and control groups, as pretest and posttest . to verify, the hypothesis, the data of pretest and postest were analyzed by using independent sample t-test and two way-Anova in SPSS program.the finding showed that the p-output from independent sample t-test (sig2-tailed) was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05. the result of p-output from two way anova was 0.313 which was lower that 0.05. it means that teaching descriptive writing using Idea Details Paragraph Strategy had significant dofference on the students writing paragraph.
