Abstract

The aims of this study were to find out whether or not there was a significant difference on the eighth grade students’ recount writing achievement in good category between those who are taught by using Dicto-Comp technique and those who are not and to find out whether or not there are significant differences on the eighth grade students’ recount writing achievement in poor, average, and good categories those who are taught by using Dicto-Comp technique and those who are not at SMPN 3 Palembang. In this study, I used Quasi Experimental Design using pretest-posttest nonequivalent groups design. There were 70 students taken as samples. Each class consisted of 35 students from class VIII 4 as control group and class VIII 5 as experimental group. In collecting the data, recount writing test was used. The test was given twice to control and experimental groups, as a pretest and posttest. To verify the hypotheses, the data of pretest and posttest were analyzed by using independent sample t-test and two way-Anova in SPSS program. The findings showed that the p-output from independent sample t-test (sig2-tailed) was 0.024 which was lower than 0.05. The result of p-output from two way Anova was 0.001 which was lower that 0.05. It means that teaching recount text by using dicto-comp technique had significant difference on the students’ writing achievement.
