Abstract
Teachers’ beliefs regarding the use of EFL authentic materials within reading lesson. This study aimed to analyse lecturers’ beliefs regarding the use of EFL authentic materials within reading lessons and to investigating the factors that affect EFL lecturers’ beliefs regarding the use of EFL authentic materials within reading lessons at English Education Study Program of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This study used a qualitative research. One of the qualitative research designs applied in this study was descriptive analysis. The participants of this study were two English Education Study Program lecturers of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The data were collected through interview. The data were analyzed and presented descriptively. This research found that the English teachers showed positive perceptions and awareness toward the use of authentic materials in teaching English. All of them had used authentic materials in their teaching reading. The reasons they used authentic materials were due to the materials are real materials, interesting materials, and enjoyable materials that could increase students’ interest, motivation, and enthusiast in learning English.
