Abstract

Hard work is the attitude of someone who does not easily give up with a strong desire and will in trying to achieve his goals and ideals. Many people who want to achieve success and happiness, one way is to have the character of hard work. But the fact is that many people prefer the instant way, and prefer the middle way in reaching their goals. Researchers see that it is very important to value this hard work character within the individual. The value of the character of hard work can be obtained from the book Sang Enlightenment by Akmal Nasery Barsal. This study aims to determine the value of the character of hard work and its relevance in life at school. In the book The Enlightenment. This research is library research, namely research that utilizes library resources to obtain research data. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using content analysis techniques, namely research that discusses in depth the contents of a written or printed information and then is given an interpretation. The results of this study from the interpretation process in answering the formulation of the problem, the researchers found that the character values of hard work in the novel Sang Enlightenment are utilizing free time, working hard in studying time, working hard to earn a living, never giving up, living with faith and hope, diligent and enterprising. in helping others, and character overcomes the perception of others by working hard. Then the relevance of the character of hard work in the novel Sang Enlightenment in life at school is that the teacher can create students with character and achieve what has been planned.
