Abstract
ABSTRACT Name : Fadhilatul Istiana Study Program : Islamic Psychology Title : Fear of Intimacy in Romantic Relationships among Early Adult Fatherless Woman The void of a father’s role is also called fatherless, namely the absence of a father figure both physically and amotionally, a woman who did not get a father figure as a child will have an impact on her romantic life in determining a partner. The purpose of this study is to understand the description of fear of intimacy in establishing romantic relationships in early adult women, criteria for subjects in this study are early adult women aged 20-30 years old and not married. This study uses qualitative phenomenological methods and data collection techniques in form of inteviews, observation and documentation. The result in this study show that the father’s role in the household and children’s lives affects the formation of fear of intimacy in romantic relationships if these roles cannot be fulfilled. The three subjects have a fairly different picture of fear of intimacy, characterized by the presence of aspects of fear of intimacy in the subject, namely fear of exposure, fear of abandonment, fear of angry attacks, fear of one’s own destructive impulses. The result of this study are expected to be useful and add insight into the scientific field and society to be more concerned about their respective roles in a family.
