Abstract

This research is entitled "The Influence of Emotional Intelligence on Prosocial Behavior in Students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang". This researcher aims to find out whether there is an influence of emotional intelligence on prosocial behavior in students. The approach used for this research is a non-experimental quantitative research method and data collection using a psychological scale. The total population in this study is 489 students and the sample is 220 students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The sampling technique uses probability sampling and Slovin formula. The instrument used was Goleman's Refinetment Model of Emotional Intelligence by Goleman (2001) which was developed by Khaili (2011) and adapted to the Indonesian version by Nufal and Nuraqmarina (2022) and Prosocialness for Adults (PSA) by Caprara et al. (2005) and adapted to the Indonesian version by Sefianmi et al. (2023). The results of data analysis with simple regression analysis techniques assisted by the Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) version 22 and JASP version 0.18.3002.0 applications showed a significant influence of emotional intelligence on prosocial behavior in students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This is evidenced by the result (R2=0.410; β = 0.640; p = 0.000).
