Abstract

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) whether or not there was a significant difference on the eleventh grade students‟ report writing achievement who were taught by using Problem-based Learning Method, and (2) whether or not there was a significant difference on the eleventh grade students‟ report in poor, fair, good and excellent categories between those who were taught by using Problem-based Learning (PBL) Method and who were not at MA Darussalam OKU Timur. One of the quasi-experimental, nonequivalent pretest posttest design was applied in this study. The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of MA Darussalam OKU Timur. To decide the number of sample in this study, convenience sampling was used. The total number of the sample was 50 students, 25 students belonged to experimental group and 25 students belonged to control group. In collecting the data, test was used. The test was given twice to experimental and control groups, as a pretest and posttest. The data pretest and posttest of the experimental and control groups were analyzed by using independent sample t-test and two-way ANOVA in SPSS program to verify the hypotheses. The result in independent sample t-test showed that the p-output (sig.(2-tailed)) was 0.000 lower than 0.05 and the t-value was 4.967 higher than t- table 2.01063. Then, in two-way ANOVA showed that the p-output was 0.004 lower than 0.05. Thus, it could be stated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The result indicated that Problem-based Learning could be used as good method to increase report writing achievement.
