Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the challenges which were faced by the teachers of English in teaching English at Madrasah Tsanawiyah of Patra Mandiri 1 Palembang. The participants in this research were the teachers of English at Madrasah Tsanawiyah of Patra Mandiri 1 Palembang by using purposeful sampling. The method of this study was qualitative research with case study design. Semi-structured interview was used to collect the data. I analyzed the data by using thematic analysis.Trustworthiness was used to validate the data by applying member checking. The findings indicated that there were some challenged in teaching English faced by the teachers of English, as follows: a) Teachers’ Challenges in Teaching Language Skill (Reading, Speaking, Writing, Listening), b) students had lack of motivation, c) classroom management, and d) lack of facility.
