Abstract
This study aimed at finding out 1) personality of students of English Education Study Program at State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang, and 2) the speaking challenges faced by the introvert students at English Education Study Program at State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang. This study used mix method design. The participants of this study were the third semester students from academic year 2018/2019. In quantitative data, 98 students were taken as sample by using purposive sampling. While, in qualitative data there were 5 participants and this study used homogeneous sampling as technique sampling. The data were collected through questionnaire, observation, and interview. The result of the study showed that 14 students had introvert personality and 84 students had extrovert personality. Further, from this study, it was also found out the speaking challenges faced by introvert students were language components, psychology of students, and learning environment.
