Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model on the ability to think critically on learning mathematics students of class IX SMP Nurul Qomar Palembang. The type of research used is True Experimental Design. The population of this study consists of 3 classes and selected 2 classes as a sample, namely class IX.A as experimental class and IX.B as a control class. Data collection techniques used in this study are the tests as a measure of critical thinking skills, student observation sheets as supporting data for researchers, and the observation sheet of the implementation of Problem Based Learning model to see the implementation of Problem Based Learning model. Data analysis used is t test with significant level = 0,05, obtained tcritical = 2.51 and ttable = 1,67. The results of the analysis can show that there is influence of the implementation of Problem Based Learning model of learning to students critical thinking skills in the learning of mathematics students of class IX SMP Nurul Qomar Palembang.
