Abstract

The main purposes of this study were (1) to find out whether the English instructional material presented in the student workbook (PUPIN: Pokok Uji Pintar) is relevant with the standardized contents of the 2013 Curriculum or not, (2) to find out whether the English instructional material presented in the student workbook (PUPIN: Pokok Uji Pintar) has already fulfilled the standardized quality of good student workbook based on didactic, construction, and technical terms. The type of the research is descriptive qualitative study using content analysis method. The object was English student workbook (PUPIN: Pokok Uji Pintar) published by CV. Seti-Aji for class VII which was used by State Junior High Schools at Ilir Barat 1 district Palembang.In collecting the data, there were three kinds of instruments used; checklist, questionnaire, and interview guideline. The analyses of data lead to two kinds of findings. First, the English student workbook (PUPIN: Pokok Uji Pintar) was fairly relevant with the standardized contents of 2013 Curriculum. Second, the result of teachers’ questionnaire in didactic term obtained 73.33% (Good), construction term obtained 62.19% (Good), and technical term obtained 83.34% (Very good). In addition, the result of the interview showed that this English student workbook was helpful enough during teaching-learning process. But, it stillneeds to be revisedinsome parts.
