Abstract
This study aimed at finding out what students’ perceptions were on selfassessment in writing class at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The design of this study was qualitative research in the form of descriptive design. This study was conducted at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang with four students. In order to find the answer of research problem in this study, the researcher utilized one-one interviews through open-ended questions to collect the data about students’ perception on self-assessment in writing class at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. In the data analysis, the thematic analysis in the form of a coding system was used to find out students’ perceptions on self-assessment in writing class at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. Those interviews were followed four perceptions on selfassessment in writing class as the reference in the instruments. They were 1) enhance students’ autonomy 2) make students have a control of their own evaluation 3) promote students’ active learning 4) increase students quality in assignments. The result of this study indicated that those were the perceptions which affected students’ perceptions on self-assessment in writing class at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.
