Abstract
life in the future. However, currently there are still many students who are not independent. This is evidenced by the existence of students who still depend on their parents in doing the tasks given by the teacher. In addition, it is not uncommon for them to choose to cheat and do not even complete the tasks that have been given. This phenomenon implies that their level of independence is still quite low. The novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga is a novel written by Tere Liye which contains character values, one of which is the value of independent characters which of course can motivate every reader to become a better individual. This study aims to determine the value of independent character contained in the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye and its relevance to the current practice of independent character education. This research is a type of library research and uses a qualitative approach. In collecting data using documentation method, and data analysis used is content analysis. The results of this study indicate that the values of independent characters contained in the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye include the values of hard work, toughness, fighting power, creativity, courage, and lifelong learning. The relevance of the independent character values contained in the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga with the current practice of independent character education, namely the independent character contained in the novel discusses the value of hard work, toughness, fighting power, creativity, courage, and lifelong learning. These values are part of an independent character which is of course very relevant to the current practice of independent character education. Through this novel, it is hoped that these values can be conveyed properly and can be used as a medium in instilling independent characters in children. In addition, the formation of independent characters in the novel is through habituation, example, advice, and attention and supervision.
