Abstract
In Indonesia, there are many dif erent types of fish that can be cultivated, oneof which is African catfish which is very suitable for business because the sellingvalue is very high so it is good for development. The growth of African catfishisstrongly influenced by the type of feed. Basically, the obstacles in everyaquaculture business that many fish cultivators complain about are the highpriceof commercial feed and the high level of poisoning due to the rest of the feedpellets that are not eaten by the fish. This requires the concept of developingafishery production system using aquatic plants as natural food. One of the aquaticplants that can be used to feed African catfish is water spinach. The purposeof this study was to determine the ef ectiveness of water spinach leaves (Ipomoeaaquatica) with commercial feed on the growth of African catfish (Clariasgariepinus). This study used an experimental method with a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments, namely, treatment P0 (without feeding), P1 (giving 100% water spinach leaves), P2(giving 100% commercial pellets) and P3 (giving 100% commercial pellets). acombination of 50% water spinach leaves and 50% pellets). Feeding is donebyatsatiation. The best result was the P1 treatment, which showed that the weight of the fish growth was 12,2 g and the length of 11,3 cm gave very significant resultsfor the growth of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), both for weight and lengthgrowth. The results of feed ef iciency were 82,23%, and fish survival was 100%. So that it can be interpreted that the provision of water spinach leaves as natural food or additional feed results are not much dif erent from the provisionof commercial feed for the growth of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). Keywords: Dumbo Catfish, Water Kale Leaf, Pellets, Growth.
