Abstract
Bacteriophage is a type of virus that can infect and replicate in specific bacterial cells to lyse the host bacterial cell which has high specificity. Bacteriophages can be used to kill pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli. The applications of phages requires variety of tests to ensure the stability of phage activity. This study aims to determine the range of pH required by phages to lyse Escherichia coli and the range of pH in storage. The method of study were quantitative descriptive experimental method and pH parameters. The study obtained data on the pH treatment set in LB media and SM buffer. The result of this study shown that treatment in LB media were pH 7, 2, 2, 2, 4 and 10 the optimum pH of phages FA 3-3A, FA 3-3B, FB 3-3A, FB 3-3B, FC 1-1A, and FC 1-1B. In SM buffer were pH 3, 11, 7, 2, 10 and 3 the optimum pH of phages FA 3-3A, FA 3-3B, FB 3-3A, FB 3- 3B, FC 1-1A, and FC 1-1B. Keywords: Escherichia coli, Lytic Phage, LB Media, pH, SM Buffer.
