Abstract
Google Meet is one of the online learning media that had been used as learning media during COVID-19 pandemic. This study was conducted to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of Google Meet as learning media to learn speaking at MAN 2 Palembang during COVID-19. This study was conducted by using a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The participants of this study were tenth grade students of MAN 2 Palembang which consisted of ten students by employing purposeful sampling with maximal variation sampling. The data were collected by using open-ended interview. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis technique. The findings of this study revealed that there were five students’ perceptions on the use of Google Meet in learning speaking: (a) the challenges of using Google Meet in learning speaking, (b) passive class condition, (c) less mastery of aspects of speaking, (d) the importance of practice in speaking, and (e) offline learning is more convenient.
