Abstract
Abstract A research has been done to evaluate the antioxidant activity of methanol extract Musa paradisiaca Sapientum peel’s. Maseration technique was used to get the extract using methanol as solvent. The methanol extract of the peel was re-extracted by solvents into n-hexan and ethyl acetate fractions. Phytochemical screening of methanol extract showed positive flavonoid. The antioxidant activities were tested by using ferric thiocyanate method 0.05% (FTC) on linoleic acid and buthylhydroxyanisole (BHA) as antioxidant standard. Methanol extract, n-hexan and ethyl acetate fraction exhibited antioxidative activity that was not significantly different from BHA, on the other hand, the ethyl acetate fraction exhibited significant antioxidative activity, which is better than BHA.
