Abstract
This research is entitled Protection of Health Rights of Class I Prisoners in Palembang during the COVID-19 Period according to Law No. 12 of 1995 concerning Corrections and Islamic Criminal Law. Health is one of the basic human needs, because health is a right for every citizen who is protected by law, including prisoners. Law No. 12 of 1995 states that prisoners' rights include access to health services and proper food. The problems raised are how to realize the protection of the health rights of prisoners during the Covid-19 period based on Law No. 12 of 1995 and how the perspective of Islamic Criminal Law on the protection of the health rights of prisoners during the Covid-19 period at the Class I Prison in Palembang. The method used is field research (field research). From the results of the study, it was found that the protection of the health rights of prisoners in the Class I prison in Palembang was in accordance with Law No. 12 of 1995 and the Islamic Shari'a Maqasid Syari'ah in the form of Hifzh al- nafs, protection of the health rights of prisoners such as health services through the Kesailmu program, Vaccine program 1 and 2, clinical treatment of sick prisoners. Food service. Sports activities, clean environment. Assimilation is an effort to reduce overcapacity and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
