Abstract
This research is a descriptive analytical qualitative research using the thematic interpretation method which utilizes library data. The results of this research are: First, analysis of the text of the fasting verse in Makiyah and Madaniyah found that fasting is a medium for getting closer to Allah SWT in order to produce strength and intelligence in the soul of someone who is fasting so that they can solve life's problems wisely. Second, analysis of the context of the fasting verses in Makiyah and Madaniyah found that the direction and purpose of fasting is an effort to get closer to Allah SWT so as to create a spirit to worship, to present life with the blessings and mercy of Allah SWT. Fasting not only builds closeness to God but also builds closeness to fellow humans in social relationships. Third, the ethical implications of fasting in the Al-Qur'an, namely that the fasting verse shows more about the morals or behavior in carrying out fasting, namely sincerity, determination, blessing, surrender, and having the principles of ihsan, patience, sincerity, and having the principle of tawakkal.
